Director Key Account Strategy

Kristen Wyer is the director of key account strategy and innovation at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She is responsible for leading the strategic direction and oversight of her team: professionals dedicated to supporting national and key account sales and retention. Kristen manages the preparation and development of group-specific pre- and post-sale strategies, including but not limited to national account management, marketing collateral and account-specific presentation material. She is responsible for translating the needs of our largest customers into innovative and operational improvements in all our customer touchpoints to ensure improved loyalty. Kristen represents Wellmark as the Operations point of contact for the Consortium Health Plans. She serves on the Blue Value Strategy and Policy Workgroup, the Peer-to-Peer Round Table, the National Messaging Workgroup and the Pharmacy Round Table. She also serves as the Inter-Plan Sales Collaboration leader for Wellmark.
Kristen joined Wellmark in 2008 as the Client Solutions team leader, where she developed and directed account teams on consultative approaches to account presentations. She was promoted to team leader of Key Account Strategy in 2010, leading the Request for the Proposal team. In 2020, she was promoted to her current role as director. Prior to joining Wellmark, Kristen served in several sales and marketing roles within Gannett Corporation.
Kristen received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication at Drake University.
